Host John Snyder interviews Dr. Harry Jaffa (Professor Emeritus of Government at Claremont McKenna College) on the meaning and importance of the Declaration of Independence. Many jurists, including conservative Justice Scalia of the US Supreme Court, hold that the Declaration has no legal authority in how we read and interpret the Constitution. Jaffa asserts that the Declaration is part of the organic law of our country and is essential to all legal interpretation, and expresses the very spirit of the nation.
