The Culture War Turns Hot

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins was at the hospital just before midnight last Wednesday when Leonardo Reno Johnson was wheeled out of surgery, a bullet having been removed from his left arm. Earlier that same day, Johnson was in the lobby guarding the conservative Christian think-tank when a man possessing a Sig Sauer semi-automatic handgun, two loaded magazines, 50 rounds of ammunition and 15 Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, attempted to enter the organization’s offices.

Of Poultry and Political Correctness

Americans ate a whole lot of chicken on Wednesday; in particular, Chick-fil-A chicken. Here in South Florida, where I live, the area’s powerhouse talk-radio station provided updates from listeners who reported standing in long lines around the fast-food chain’s various locations.

“They are making a lot of noise,” Celio Fonseca of Boca Raton told the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel of the gay lobby’s attempt to intimidate the fast-food chain’s president, Dan Cathy, for stating that his organization’s corporate culture is Christian as are its values. “But they are in the minority,” continued Fonseca, “Everyone has the right to express what they believe, and we are here to support the chain.” Fonseca is a member of the Church of All Nations.

“You Should Reflect Chicago Values”

Adolf Hitler’s first official act as the new German Chancellor was to end the centuries-old tradition of independent local governments. In 1933, he sent armed SS thugs to arrest small town politicians and install handpicked National Socialist commissioners. And so began the Führer’s remaking of German society. It was a simple first step on the road to convincing his people they were a super race of beings descended from the survivors of the lost continent of Atlantis – Aryans.

“His Will for Good or Bad”

As even the most casual observer of the news knows, the Obama administration’s sale of weapons to Mexican drug cartels was intended to support the president’s contention that American guns are chiefly responsible for the ongoing war now waging between drug gangs and the government south of the border. If not for the revelations regarding the Justice Department’s Operation Fast and Furious, the massacre of Mexico’s innocents would have provided Obama and his gun-grabbing Democrats the ammunition needed to reinstate the U.S. assault weapons ban, which lapsed during the presidency of George W. Bush.

Watching the World Burn

“… Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

~ Actor Michael Caine as Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred in the Batman film “The Dark Knight.”

I did not see the film above when it was released in theaters around the country in 2008. I thought it was just so much kid stuff and didn’t want to waste my time.

I was wrong.

A friend called and insisted I rent the DVD and watch what he considered one of film’s more accessible morality tales masked in the garb of comic book lore.

Romney gets Wright Wrong

As you’ve probably noticed, President Obama has wrapped himself and his ideology in the cloak of religion.

A Bailout Ponzi Scheme

It was the second largest financial penalty levied on a single industry in U.S. history. $25 billion was extracted from the nation’s banks for financial fraud committed during the heyday of the home mortgage boom. The money was intended to help qualified homeowners nearing foreclosure.

That, however, was when another fraud was perpetrated.

“In a budget proposed this week,” reports the New York Times, “California joined more than a dozen states that want to help close gaping shortfalls using money paid by the nation’s biggest banks and earmarked for foreclosure prevention …”

The Contemptible Eric Holder … and Company

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Cal.) is getting angry. The chairman of the House Oversight committee is circulating a “contempt of Congress” citation among Washington’s lawmakers accusing Attorney General Eric Holder of withholding information shedding light on the person or persons within the Obama administration responsible for ordering the deadly Fast and Furious operation. The aforementioned action funneled weapons to Mexican drug cartels that killed or wounded hundreds of innocent Mexican citizens and led to the murder of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

Gay Marriage in the Church of Progressivism

During the height of the Bill “Bubba” Clinton scandals, Tonni Morrison, the African-American writer and activist, wrote in The New Yorker magazine:

Friday’s Bad Economic Numbers

Are you ready? Here’s the New York Times headline explaining Friday’s bad economic figures: “Job Growth Slows; Joblessness Shrinks With Work Force.”

Huh?

As you can tell, the mouthpiece for the Obama administration is having a hard time putting the good spin on a bad story. All the Keynesian efforts put in place by the worlds’ leading politicians and central bankers hasn't worked as intended. Global economic growth continues to slow as European and American politicians pile more debt onto Mount Irresponsible.
