The Armor of God

By: Mr. Curmudgeon

The New York Times has discovered more damning evidence against the Republican Vice Presidential contender Sara Palin – her belief in a moral universe.

“Ms. Palin’s faith has come under scrutiny after two videos taken in her former church surfaced on YouTube and became immediate sensations. The first showed a visiting preacher from Kenya praying fervently over Ms. Palin in a gravelly voice and asking God to favor her campaign for governor and protect her from “every form of witchcraft.”

Ms. Palin declined an interview, and the McCain campaign did not respond to specific questions about her faith. Thus, it is difficult to say with certainty what she believes.
What is known, however, is that Ms. Palin has had long associations with religious leaders who practice a particularly assertive and urgent brand of Pentecostalism known as “spiritual warfare.”

The Times is horrified that Palin believes there is more at work in the universe than nihilistic materialism; that money, and the power it can buy, is not the ultimate reality.

“Spiritual warfare” is just another term describing the contest between good and evil. Nilhists easily believe the Kennedy assassination to be the handy work of the CIA. That the 9/11 attacks were the work of the Bush administration. That evidence links Vice President Dick Cheney to every act of evil occurring in the world (all twisted acts of faith). Yet they find it preposterous that unseen moral forces affect their narrow perception of reality.

The war to destroy Hitler, considered by many (including nilhists) to be the “good war,” lifted the totalitarian curtain that descended over Western Europe and stopped the brutal scientifically efficient Nazi death camps. Yet the secular world conveniently forgets that German National Socialism had its roots in the Thule Society – an occult organization that believed the German people were descendants of an ancient supper race whose true greatness was only achievable once the restraints of Judaeo/Christian morality was swept away. The war against Hitler, therefore, was first and foremost an outward expression of spiritual warfare. Understanding the disastrous magnitude of a global victory by Hitler, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill said, “…if we fail, then the whole world --- will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.”

The old expression that says “evil triumphs when good men do nothing” is foolish. A good man, by definition, is compelled to combat evil. The reason nilhists view Tibet’s pacifist Dali Lama as a hero is that he personifies the “good man” doing nothing. For this reason the Times views Sara Palin’s Christian worldview with alarm because it compels believers to express the good within them by battling evil – not only in the spiritual realm but in the temporal as well:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Book of Ephesians, chapter 6:12
